Quantum Computing Research

Researchers from the UNSW have developed quantum computing processors which can hold data more than 100 times compared to their previous results. Furthermore, two milliseconds is a big amount when it comes to quantum computing.

Besides, the UNSW researchers have also developed new research using which they have proven that spin qubits which is basically the property of electrons that represent basic information in quantum computers for more than two milliseconds. This time at which the information can be held is known as coherence time. Likewise, it has been found that the chips can now hold information that is significantly higher than the previous benchmark than the previous quantum processor.

Moreover, in quantum computing, the more spins are in motion, the better the chances are to ensure that information can be stored during the conduction of complex calculations. Meanwhile, the concept of coherence time for improving the productivity of quantum chips was already used by the team of UNSW Sydney in 2018.

However, there is still room for improvement. According to the Lead researcher, Ms Hansen, quantum computers need to be developed to manipulate millions of qubits on a simultaneous basis. In addition, the next objective of the research team is to showcase the proof of concept of qubit calculations in an experiment paper.
